What is AdviceComics?

"AdviceComics No. 1" made its debut at SPX, the  small press comics convention in Bethesda, Maryland. and was also featured at MoCCA Arts Festival in New York and at the NYC Zine Fest. This web site includes material from "AdviceComics No. 1" as well as more recent comics. We plan to put out new comics soon, and new material will appear on this web site this year!

AdviceComics contain suggestions, not rules. Use your own best judgment before following anyone's advice. Even Zigory may make occasional mistakes despite his best efforts to be flawless.  Zigory is constantly learning and improving himself, and will share what he learns in the strip.

Meanwhile, enjoy your life and persevere...as you work toward even more joy!

Profile of Zigory

Picture
Zigory has been interested in visual storytelling since age five, when he drew his first graphic novel: a series of drawings which told a story. (Because of limited writing skills at that age, he had to verbally narrate the story while pointing to the drawings.) When Zigory was age 10, his comic strip featuring "Kooky Sam" was published each week in the Asbury Park Sunday Press, a New Jersey Shore newspaper. Zigory was profiled in the National Enquirer and was a guest on the TV show To Tell The Truth as the youngest professional cartoonist in America.

His early favorites included the works of Walt Disney Studios' comic book creators, and Charles Schulz (Peanuts) and DC's Carmine Infantino (Batman and The Flash). Zigory's more recent favorites include Seth, Guy Delisle, Rick Geary and Jessica Abel.

Zigory made short films while attending New York University's Film School, continuing on the visual storytelling path. He has written articles published in the Asbury Park Press (New Jersey) and other periodicals and websites, he produced programs for Queens Public Television in New York and has written for and performed on programs on CTV Staten Island. Zigory has drawn caricatures for guests at Walt Disney World in Florida and Keansburg Amusement Park in New Jersey.

The idea of Advice Comics grew out of years of Zigory writing notes of advice to himself, which over time helped him achieve a happier life. One example: he wrote a note that he wished to marry an honest, smart woman who is also cheerful. After a long search, Zigory married his ideal woman, Zigorette, in 1998, and they live happily somewhere near New York City with their two children.
